Wind Chill
Do we know whether the instruments being used are affected by wind chill? Or is it just my best guess?
Correct me if I'm wrong, wind chill can be calculated thus: for F: *35.74 +.6215T -35.75(V^.16)+.4275T(V^.16)=WCF T= degrees F V= wind speed It is less time consuming to refer to a chart.
*this equation apears on p77 of Ahrens followed by an equation for C
Yes wind chill can be calculated but again it is an APPARENT temperature that is based on the human body. Do temperature sensors generate heat like humans? No. So there is no heat lost by temperature sensor.

Good question...not when it comes to the weather contest in actual temperature prediction but yes there is a societal impact.

Wind chill temperature is the apparent temperature that our body feels. The wind chill factor DOES NOT affect the temperature sensor reading.

Temp sensors are protected from the wind...
